I live in Las Vegas and I want to go to unlv. But I dropped out when I was 17 because I had to get a full time job. I'm currently going to adult Ed and have 17 credits and need 20. I'm not the smartest guy but now that I've matured more (I'm 20 years old) I can put a lot more work and effort. I don't really understand the college/ university system but I want to go. I work full time and I don't know if I could get financial aid or anything ? Any advice or ideas please?

Yep. I quit high school. Went back and struggled to get my diploma then went into the Air Force for 4 years. Tried Community College after that and was accepted and did better there than high school!! I could have transferred to a 4 year college right after I got my AAS Degree but didn't. Pretty sure if you get your GED you can start at a local Comm. College then transfer to UNLV if your grades are high enough. Hang in there...you'll be fine!

Sure you can.

Start with a community college. CC will accept anyone with high school diploma or equivalent. Once you earn AA (Associate in Arts) degree from a community college, you are guaranteed acceptance from any state 4 year colleges. You'll start from the third year.

As to financial aid, you'll have to visit your local community college and see what's available. Many are need based, some are not.

Good luck.
