My student loan is in default and I feel great. It is a beautiful day the weather is awesome. Everything is excellent and I am not making any payments. Does this mean that there is something wrong with me that I feel so good inside and don't care about my student loans being in default. I spoke to someone on the phone and they said I should feel terrible, but I just can't. Life is too wonderful for something petty like that to get me down.

sounds like you have your priorities straight to me. Your family self and home should be the first thing you worry about. Give yourself and your family the luxuries you want before paying off your student loan. You will die much happier.

Feeling good today is great for you. Tomorrow may be different when you need to buy a car on credit, buy a house, or even get a tax return. Those of us who paid off our loans so you could get one are happy for you. We know that life is not fair and that while we are responsible not everyone else is. Have a beer and relax today. Besides, they will just come and get your parents or the other person who co-signed for you. Cheers.

Ok, you can feel that way if you want to...

But, don't complain later when you can't get a car loan or a home loan and they start garnishing your wages and you end up owing twice as much because of all the fees.

As long as you don't care and

you don't expect to get a tax refund or

you don't want to get another loan or

you don't care about your credit rating or

you don't expect to apply for a job where they will check your credit rating
