i don't think so. i don't know what your school's like, but when i was awarded financial aid (grants etc.) it went right into my tuition; i didn't even get a check! if you did, like from a scholarship, then you could use it for anything i suppose, but i'd rather use it to pay for school!

If you're poor with a single mom the government will more than pay for your education. You can also take out some loans, and you'll be able to pay them back comfortably after you graduate and start a career. But hey if you want to be treated like a piece of meat instead of a human being, be in an unhealthy environment, have no one ever respect you, then by all means become a stripper to pay for your education.

Some scholarships have money earmarked solely for books or tuition or whatever. Others don't. If you have enough left over, by all means pay rent with it! My husband and I pay 6 months rent at each disbursement. Then we don't have rent-stress added onto our loads and we also don't have dorm noise. A dorm may be cheaper if you live alone though, unless you want to get roommates in your apartment.

No you can not. Grant money -- on the other hand -- can be used for whatever!

No, probably not unless it is affiliated with the college.

If they give you a check then you can spend it on whatever you want, if they don't give you a check then you will have to look into the details

READ the conditions in the fine print. I know my own student loans were very vague - they said I had to use a PART of it for my education - tuition or books - but they didn't say how big (or small) a part it had to be, so I used it as I saw fit. But be careful - you'll have to pay that crap back.

Usually the answer to this is yes, however it depends on the rules of your particular scholarship. Either way you can probably use your other financial aid. Basically, if the donor specifies that your scholarship is only for school fees (tuition, books, dorms etc) then use it to pay those and use the refund on your other aid to pay other bills. The school usually will automatically use schorships and grants first to pay bills and then disburse other funds to you.

It depends on what kind of scholaship you have you should try though.
