That's a long time to wait for a refund check. My school sends the checks about two to three weeks after the semester starts. Most schools have your account information online at there website, I would check there. If that doesn't help I would definitely be persistent with the financial aid office until they tell you more information, because they should be able to tell you exactly how much money you should get back and a more clear idea of when it will arrive.

They get hundreds of checks and then they have to deduct the tuition and any fees from each check and issue you a refund. If your check was on the top of the pile it would happen fast, but if it was at the bottom it will take longer. They may not have their full office staff working until school starts. They will get to you, it just takes time. Never plan on getting your check early in the semester for other expenses as it probably will be late. Welcome to college.
