I moved to Georgia permanently, and my fiance and I are living with his family. I am completely dependent on myself and the money my parents have given to me for college, therefor not dependent on them whatsoever (they live in MA, where I'm from) I have a job and plan on enrolling for college in the spring of 2011. I am over 18, and I live here in Georgia completely.

If I can prove residence, with a paycheck, a converted GA license, no dependency whatsoever from anywhere else, and have my fiance's parents sign something (if there is some document) stating that I definitely reside there, and that I receive mail there and all that- do I have to pay out-of-state, still?

Is there a number of years you need to live in GA to get that privilege? I really do live here and plan on staying here for the rest of my life, and I absolutely need to go to college, there is no other option. I have big dreams. :)

You will still have to pay out of state tuition at any school you attend in GA and you will CONTINUE to pay out-of-state tuition rates for your entire college years.

The schools WON"T change it after you have lived there a year or two. Residency rules vary by state, but usually until you are 24 (sometimes 21) years old you are a resident of the state your parents and it doesn't matter where you live.

Proving residence is more than just an address on a paycheck or a drivers license and i think you are confused about what financial independence means because you can't be "completely dependent upon myself" when "my parents have given me money for college".

Also, the last time I checked, your parents giving you money means you aren't financially independent. LOL Don't forget that living with someone else (like boyfriends parents) also indicates that you AREN"T supporting yourself completely. Sorry, a note from boyfriends parents saying... "she lives with us"... will only backfire on you. LOL

Sweetie, this has been tried about a million different times by about a million different kids and all it will do is fail. Laws are created to make it darn near impossible for students to change their state of residence. You will fail, so plan on paying the 5 times more than normal tuition rates for your entire college career. Its certainly okay to have big dreams, just be sure you have a big pocketbook to pay for the consequences of you moving out of state and going to college. Sorry.

PS: MASS is the higher education mecca of the US. I sure hope bf turns out to be worth it. There are a lot of kids and their families who try to do the exact OPPOSITE as you. I say I hope he's worth it because if you change your mind and go back, you WILL be charged out of state tuition in MASS as well.

I believe that for in state tuition you have to reside in a state for 6 months. At least that's the requirement in California but it may vary from state to state.

as quickly as your ladies attain junior severe (middle college), you will possibly be able to desire to then commence working finished-time or maybe whilst they attain person-friendly college (in reaction to what your plans are). in case you have cable, cut back back to the person-friendly provider (12 channels) and placed your low fee costs right into a college fund, or cancel the cable thoroughly and placed that funds into the faculty low fee costs each and each month. in the experience that your ladies are rather youthful, placed any birthday or Christmas funds they get carry of right into a college fund (whilst they're older, provide them a ingredient and then placed something into their college fund). call around for insurance costs (motor vehicle insurance) and notice in case you are able to save via switching... then, save the version. Use coupons and initiate off a "coupon jar." in case you keep $8.00 on the keep with coupons, once you get domicile, placed $8.00 interior the coupon jar. Then, as quickly as a month or as quickly as each few months deposit that funds into their college funds. My mom incredibly started this 2 months in the past and now has over $one hundred in her coupon jar. you additionally can get a extensive plastic jug to assemble your substitute in. Empty your wallet and wallet each night and placed all substitute in this jug. whilst it rather is finished, placed it into the faculty fund. There have incredibly been dad and mom who've funded their baby's college with substitute that substitute into stored over the 18 years of their baby's life. it rather is not likely which you will pass over the substitute, so which you will have the skill to maintain without feeling it harm. as quickly as your toddlers hit severe college, motivate them to do their appropriate and get good grades so as that they might qualify for greater scholarships. whilst they hit the top of their junior 3 hundred and sixty 5 days and initiate off of their senior 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, commence sorting out scholarship opportunities with them. If all else fails, they might consistently bypass to a community college the 1st 2 years and circulate after that, or in basic terms attend a state-college and pay for it with pupil loans. you additionally can require that they commence engaged on the age of sixteen and make contributions a number of their very own funds to a college fund (yet, via then, you will possibly be doing greater appropriate financially so this may be your determination). good success to you!
