I accidentally filled out my FAFSA twice?

okay, when I moved, I filled out another FAFSA without realizing you could simply go in and change things. Now, I can't even get into the site because I get this message;

We found more than one 2013-2014 FAFSA with the same Social Security Number and last name you provided.

What am I suppose to do? I contacted the customer care people and they said there's nothing they can do. Once an application is submitted, it's submitted.

You need to contact your financial aid office. LIke the last person said, when you filled out the application again, you change something in regards to your name, SSN or DOB. It could be something as simple as transposing a letter or number, or putting your last name as your first name and your first name as your last name.

In any event, contact your school, and they can manaully select the corretion application OR fix the wrong application so that it wil not cause a conflict in their system.

Don't worry. This happens all the time. The FAFSA permits corrections because it's easier than doing the whole thing over again, but it's not a problem if you did. The school gets a copy of every FAFSA you do, whether it's a corrected one or a totally new one. They are all dated, and so the school will simply use the most recent copy.

This happens. If both apps have the correct SS# then you messed up your DOB. Or vice versa. After you completed your FAFSA you were sent a SAR, I believe a green colored form. You will need to manually correct the error using that SAR. On it you can correct either your DOB or SS#. It obviously will take a little longer since you will mail it to dept of ed, address is on the SAR. If you cant find your SAR you can call FAFSA 1-800-4FED-AID,1-800-433-3243 and have another sent to you. They will not correct this for you over the phone. Also this may mean that your PIN is no longer valid. Go to pin.ed.gov and select Check Status or Request Duplicate.

Keep calling them, to ask for help. In the meantime, go back in and edit your first submit only.
