if you get kicked out of uni for low attendance do you have to pay back the student loan straight away?

I had some family problems back home so took some time off university but ended up getting very far behind on work and i got signed off my course for low attendance, i heard somewhere that when you get kicked off your course you have to start paying back your student loans straight away, is this true??

well my son left his course (both of them!!) - & he didn't have to pay anything back until he had a job & earned enough to pay back monthly...they can not expect you to cough up the money if you don't yet have it.
