Does adding a minor mean that I will have to take MORE courses than the regular 4 years worth or does it just mean that I will take a few less courses that deal with my major to make room for the courses I will now need to take in order to obtain a minor? For instance, 120 units must be completed for me to obtain my BA. So does this mean that if I add a minor I will have to take more than 120 units, or does it mean that I will still only be required to take 120 units and I will just have to reduce some of the classes for my major in order to fit in the courses for my minor?

Adding a minor will add to your total number of course credits. But probably just 18-21 credits more or 6-7 extra classes. The classes that needed for your BA you have to take no matter what. A minor is just a added area of interest

It would depend how much your major and GE credits add up to. Sometimes you MUST take a minor to fill in those classes. You can't reduce classes from your major, you'll just have over 120 and there is nothing wrong with that.

A minor allows you to take additional classes in a given subject. Additional learning about almost any subject is always valuable, to yourself and to schools and employers. Let me put it this way: if a graduate school is deciding between you and another Bio major, all other things being equal between the two of you, the minor could very well help get you in.
